  • Pentagon Bans Computer Flash Drives

"The Pentagon has banned, at least temporarily, the use of external computer flash drives because of a virus threat officials detected on Defense Department networks. While defense officials would not publicly confirm the ban, messages were sent to department employees informing them of the new restrictions. As part of the ban, the Pentagon was collecting any of the small flash drives that were purchased or provided by the department to workers, according to one message distributed to employees. Workers are being told there is no guarantee they will ever get the devices back and it is not clear how long the ban will last."

  • Apple Updates iPhone Firmware

http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2008/11/21/technology/personaltech/iphonemap2.480.jpg"Included are new features like Google’s Street View, which shows a street-level picture of an address. Also included is public-transportation information, telling you what bus or train to take, where to pick it up, when the next one leaves, and how long it should take to reach your destination. Pedestrians get walking directions as well. Using Street View isn’t as intuitive as most iPhone Apps, but here’s the trick: When you have a pin in a location, tap it to make the little information banner pop up, then touch the little orange man to get a Street View. If there is no orange man, there is no Street View."

  • BlackBerry Storm 'In Short Supply' As It Goes on Sale In US

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/01118/blackberry_1118160a.jpg"The BlackBerry Storm, which hit UK shops last week, is expected to be a big hit with US customers. But the popular gadget blog Boy Genius Report says it has received inside information that fewer handsets than planned could make it into stores after a technical flaw was identified with the Storm shortly before the device started shipping. The blog reports that a security loophole was found in the operating system, meaning some last-minute tweaks had to be made to the handsets. It says that one Verizon store that had been promised 100 BlackBerry Storm phones for launch day will now receive its stock in small, staggered batches of around 40 devices per day."

  • Digit-Life / iXBT Labs Review: Cooler Master V4, Scythe Shuriken..

"Today we'll examine three different HTPC coolers: Cooler Master V4, Scythe Shuriken, and Zalman CNPS8700 NT. The primary requirement to a home theater part is compact dimensions (not higher than 90 mm) and High-End components (heat pipes and rich finning). These coolers have all that, so let's proceed straight to their design and usability issues, and then analyze the key point: actual performance."

  • Wolfking Warrior Xxtreme Gaming Keyboard Review @ Tweaknews.net

http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/wolfking_warrior_xxtreme_gaming_keyboard/img/email.jpg"With the Warrior XXtreme, Wolfking set out to improve on the already great Warrior game pad by including the ability to chat and execute commands, something that was missing from its predecessor. The type of gamer you are will determine whether or not the addition of this modified QWERTY keyboard is welcome or just in the way. It became obvious early on in my testing that RPG gamers would be the ones making use of the Warrior XXtreme's full potential."

  • Seagate Free Agent Go 320GB External Hard Drive Review @ Bigbruin.com

http://www.bigbruin.com/2008/320gbfreeagent/logo.gif"If you are looking for an extremely compact and stylish portable hard drive, the new Seagate Free Agent Go series is definitely worth checking out. While the aesthetics are a strong selling point, Seagate didn't sacrifice the performance in order to produce a pretty product. It may not offer the high speed transfers available with an eSATA drive, but the USB 2.0 interface performed quite respectably during testing."

  • Sans Digital MobileNas MN4L+(B) Four Bay NAS Review @ Tweaknews.net

It does exactly what it should do which is to provide a stable and effective way to store files. This model in particular would be a great introductory NAS for someone new to RAID or network storage since setup is easy and the feature set isn't overwhelmingly long."
