Discuss anything map related here.

The most recent version of the map can be found here.

(Refer to attached image)
I am trying to connect the river on the left to spawn town in a way that makes boat travel from spawn to the river simple. (Spawn town is center right, Mosscow bottom left)

Point of interest: Cyan circle
The circled portion is where the gravel path goes through the river. I wish the river to be fully connected, which means either a bridge, a removal of the path entirely, or a complete raising of the path. Bridge seems easiest, but I lack experience in the matter of aesthetic bridge building.

For all the propositions I will not make it purely straight, but rather make it feel more natural to the best of my abilities. The lines are just suggested general ideas.

Proposed route #1: The red path.
Disadvantages: Goes through the desert slightly (then again, I just noticed some rivers already do that). Rather separate from town, and the switchback makes it counterintuative as the correct path when traveling away from spawn.

Proposed route #2: The pink path.
Disadvantages: I don't live near spawn town, so I don't know if that would ruin many houses or people's plans. There is also slightly less wiggle room to make it feel naturally curvy.
Advantage: Goes nearer to spawn town, and will be easier to see where it leads quickly. Also avoids the odd part of the river near spawn.

Proposed route #3: The purple path
Disadvantages: The part it connects to near spawn, as far as I can tell, is somewhat distant from where people live. Also less close to town than pink
Advantages: Shorter route, nothing it can run into.

Website

Tough decision.

I am somewhat partial, however, to the red path. Snaking through the newly cleared desert might be the least intrusive way to perform this terraforming project.

Map has been updated for 1.1!
http://reviewstash.com/files/nmcs2.jpg

Strange, while I can see my house, some of the chunks in the middle aren't displayed. I also play on far.
I can also see the mushroom biome I visited via portal, its the thing on the far left. Will be interesting watching the terrain gen around it.

On further looking, I find the quantity of white space in the middle of areas disturbing. I would suggest that you try to gen them in 1.0, to have a smoother transition WITHIN the world. A single random 1.1 chunk in the middle of nowhere is strange

Ok, on further look, those seem to just not be displayed. My arena is for whatever reason isolated from everything, despite the fact that the only way to get there is by walking. Not sure what happened, as the one time chunks from my only walk to my base is shown.

For some reason the map isn't displaying everything that should be displayed. There are far too many holes in the map, and multiple places are completely isolated (The one far left was portaled, but the rest are rather near spawn).
There is also a 3 chunk wide area on my walk to my base, which is impossible (far ftw).
Probably either out of memory or SDM wanted to brin.g the server back up quickly
