A la minecraft wiki:

While individual mobs can spawn inside signs, pressure plates, and other non-opaque blocks, packs cannot. They need a completely empty block in the center. Since a pack spawns all at one level, there needs to be some air blocks right above a flat surface to allow mobs to spawn on it, and more air blocks will always allow more spawning.

(This is my logic. Might be off)
So if there are no possible spots for mobs to spawn, then you shouldn't get any. But if you have one possible location, then individual mobs in the packs can spawn in the vines.
So just make sure that there is no where for the packs to start.

Can anyone who touched the rail to SR please make sure I can use it to get back to spawn. You redirected one rail and took out the other, so now It's really annoying.

Pigmen next to the cart still collide with it, I think.

never had problems with half slabs, they should be 100% safe

I was responding to my interpretation of this post:

pyroftw wrote:

Ill fix the rail, by removing all the anti-pigmen, and making rails one-way, but i wont "fix" the rail by rebuilding the anti-pigmen. fixing somthing to an equally broken state is pointless.

Didn't test. Just seemed like he was saying that the anti-pigman doesn't work. Eg. Pigmen still interfering with him, which is why he keeps breaking the glass.

I was more saying as anti-pigmen rails are nice for keeping pigmen out, they fail to many other problems. (mainly due to not being able to get out if somthing bumps you, as you are forced to ride the entire way back, which defeats the purpose of riding ( you may has well walked))

With upside down slabs, you can get out easy, i don't see the problem there.
you just have to rebuild all :D, the rails has not been thinked in the first place anyway.
