You know I was SOOO sceptic about this but I checked out the youtube vids Its AMAZING we HAVE TO have this!

I don't think this is a bad idea, but I also love vanilla MC. So maybe if we do this only have a separate server for it and keep the regular one. That might be too expensive though

Why don't you find a server with tekkit? you'll find tons of friends over there.

I think the idea was to play with this community. I would play, if there was a dedicated server.
In addition, tekkit is a very "endgame" mod. Continued progress gives very expensive and powerful items (Indestructable, flying, firing lightning bolts and explosions, mass terraforming, etc, at cost of equivalent to maybe couple million diamonds?). Joining an existing server means that other people are far ahead of you. Starting a new one means everyone is at square 1 with the server.

Quick (clearly not very well thought out) solution: One of us finds a decent tekkit server (with whitelist) We apply, and start together. Accepting Critisisms. Alsong as we stay together-ish we should be fine.

Hmm... that is a great idea! Want me to find one? If someone already found one and you haven't started tell us and we will apply!

I actually like this. We just all move out a couple thousand blocks in one direction and play together.
It should be small enough to not attract griefers, and big enough to fit all of us.
I would suggest waiting a bit and building up a gathering here.
1. Get everyone ready for it. Give people time to read wikis, etc.
2. Everyone starting roughly same time.
3. AP tests in May.

Sounds good to me. Now to find a server. Would you like me to find one or do you have on in mind?

I suggest that for finding a Tekkit server to play on we wait until summer. That way all who want can get together when there is a lot of free time without fear of work or exams (AP also coming up for me). Until summer I can't do it and I would really like to be a part of it
.

See point number 3. AP tests are approaching, so I won't be able to do anything with any dedication for a while, now that spring break has ended.
Not saying don't start, just saying I can't do much until later.
Tekkit launcher has a single player option, so you can test out the mods there, to get a hang of everything.
NEI is a really useful tool once you understand how it works.
Also, Tekkit hasn't updated in a bit. I think it still uses the 1.1 jar. I could suggest waiting until it goes on from the current version, 2.1.1, just in case? Dunno. Haven't really played with big mods seriously.

I could set my server up for this... but i dunno :\

Yeah I experimented with the mod a bit and it is quite full of new and strange material.
It might take a while getting used to and memorizing ALL the new crafting formulas, which greatly exceed vanilla Minecraft's number of formulas.
And lol Kura. A key word here is "also"
.

Yay timestamps. Replied to this:

You posted while I was typing.
Kaya, Your creative test server so far seems underused. You didn't even set it to flatlands.
Up to you and your computer. Do you think you can handle the stress? Tekkit is very complex and will be taxing on any server. (No doubt we should disable chunk loaders, but even without them). And it is your server.

Silly you, editing your post while I am posting.
NEI helps with all the recipes a TON.
NEI (Not enough Items) is desinged as an improvement off of TMI. It gives the TMI interface with all the blocks, but with "cheatymode" disabled.
Instead, it gives you access to all the crafting recepies, and has both search and sort.
Hover over an item and press R to see how to craft it, or press U to see what you can craft with it. (IIRC).
Even includes smelting.
The one annoying thing I have are all the different furnaces and crafting tables. There is a furnace that must be used with Redpower, a crafting table that must be used with railcraft, etc.
(Side note, it is now much harder to craft rails thanks to railcraft, but you can do so much more with them.)

I'm not the biggest Tekkit fan yet, but I do have a Dell PowerEdge laying around...
