The tekkit forums are rather... immature. (I blame yogbox).
Surfed around a bit back for good resources, etc. Attracts tons of idiots. And the admins aren't too professional, although they probably adapted that attitude to deal with all the idiots.

So surf servers their with a bucket of salt. Not condemning your suggestion, just providing a warning from small amounts of browsing on there. Haven't looked at any servers yet.

I wonder if I could try hosting from my house. Probably have the spare equipment lying around. Just getting the right software would be tricky.

Yes didn't search the forums, but the rule is : more addon and no whitelist: means more idiots/immature people you'll find.

We need a whitelist one guys, I suggest we don't all apply together that way if one of us gets through we can say we are friends and therefore stand more chance.

Hey guys ! Check this server out . They have a neat setup and its whitelisted. http://minecraft-techworld.com
I havent applied yet. Tell me what you think. Just judjing by their website its a very organized and serious server.

Edit : They have some stuff disabled and they have lwc and towny. We could all join and make a town and not worry about locking chests. Another thing . We must be careful of what we build because they have some stuff that is "banned" from building like mob spawners (have to read all the rules ) but i think we will be fine. Also if we apply , we could apply as a group so that way be have a better chance joining . big_smile  I thing on the dynamic map i noted is that there are quite alot of people on the server. tongue

Looks like a perfect server... Reading the rules and stuff now. What do you think, Hawk?

Digging behind the lines, it seems a little controlled and flawed. I'm hoping that's just the rules and they are slightly more flexible on the server. Worth a look.

Wait a minute... iConomy? Gah gettit away get it away! No mayors no currencies! Gah. Delete Delete. Noooo.... Or I could just ignore it.

Not a fan of iConomy in the slightest.

And on a Tekkit server, it is redundant and worse.

Equivalent excange assigns each item an EMC (Energy matter conversion). With this, you can do things like turn enough iron into coal, or turn redstone into glowstone, etc, each at it's own conversion rate, based off of EMC.
Any deviation in the Iconomy plugin from Equivalent excange and you can buy yourself infinite diamonds.

Looks like you got the right idea there. I would prefer just tekkit and protection. No Iconomy, towny, etc. Still like vanilla in the sense that it could still feel "minecrafty." Iconomy and Co. ruin that feel for me.

Alright, checked on the rules.
I would much prefer we found a simpler server. If we ran it we wouldn't have to worry about all these crazy things.

I am here for tekkit. In a sense, I want it to still feel like minecraft, and that this just a new update. Not all the colorful economy and Towny BS.

Plus, No equivalent exchange, actually. I like that mod.

Choice picks:

No.

If you are going to be inactive for longer than a week, please make a post about it on the forums, telling us when you will be back.
If you do not inform us of your inactivity and are inactive for longer than a week, then your house in a city and your shop may be removed, without reimbursement when you return.

Seems like donators get the compass from worldedit, that lets you tele through and onto blocks.

For all donors

You may not place Computers, Turtles, etc. for non-VIPs. Doing so will lose you VIP status, without getting a refund.
VIP+ and Elite Rank only

VIP+s and Elites use the compass at their own risk! You will not be reimbursed if you die.
You mustn't give /stack'ed items to non VIP+s or Elites. Doing so will see you lose VIP or Elite status.
Do not trespass into other people's property without permission with the compass. You will be fined credits. Repeat offences will see you losing your VIP status, without getting a refund.

Shame.

Mob grinders are illegal, due to the unfair advantage which they give to players.

One flaw of buildcraft is the limited oil reserves. There is a converter, but early on and even midgame oil is really powerful.

If you see an oil spring, you have to use a sign to claim it as yours. First person to place a sign wins.

Wow, Towny is worse than I though

No, Silly Kura. Taxes and Towns being instantly removed if you cant pay should be implemented into the vanilla experience. WTF. Server Based Mods suck. Why would using towny be a good idea?

I assume you are agreeing with me. Is that supposed to be two lines to express two thoughts, one sarcastic and one not? Bit ambiguous as one line.
Maybe I was the ambiguous one.

I don't want towny. I still want minimized mods. Just tekkit and logs.
I find overzealous and fancified mods annoying. Abstract credits to do anything make the game feel to far from minecraft.
In tekkit, you still have to build everything yourself. Not just buy from a sign with text on it with some numbers that popped up on your screen.

Yup, I totally agree. I probably should have used a line break there, oh well.  Anyway I'm having doubts about this server I'll probably get some block protection error for placing things now...
