Here is what PimpinPandaLP uses for his Tekkit server. They apparently have great service and very little lag for a pretty good price. If we wanted, we could use them instead of having SDM actually host it.

I meant still having the community, SDM just wouldn't have the hassle of hosting two servers.

ah, i see. one thing to think about though is that if the community had a tekkit server, how many people would be on either server? im sure SDM doesnt want this server to suffer losses because of a different server, ya know?

Hey, guess what?

Got my servers started.

Got my own dedicated box set up. Now just trying to get all the networking and connectivity issues ironed out (Such as being kicked every 30 seconds, and self-resetting firewalls).
I'd say it would be finished by the end of next weekend.

Still an interest in tekkit?

Yes Kura, very much tongue. I think Irashi is too and some other people. Whatever Shan says, he wants it too, I saw his contest application for Panda's server tongue. (BTW, gratz on the baby, Shan!)

Edit: Better, Kura?

You know, if all of us pitched in $1 a month, we could have a pretty insane server setup...

Cool. Although I never applied for Panda's server. Do you mean Shan?

I was right, we had nearly every single necessary spare part lying around. Built the entire thing for maybe $10 for one missing cable.
Did a bit more debugging. Turned off Auto restart after update, and figured out that I couldn't connect because I never started it.
Probably will be a whitelist of all reliable players for this server.

I don't have any way to donate, unfortunately. No paypal or credit card.
I am happy with your current server.
Plus, me running tekkit for the community would help relieve stress on you.

Prepaid debit cards? It's pretty easy to find a way to donate.

For every $1 donated, I could match it with $.50...

I used to purchase them at convenience or grocery stores.

But it looks like it may now require more effort - bummer:

Yay tekkit thread.
Alright. Got tekkit running on my derp server.
Before I stress test, questions about configuration:

Questions:
1. What part of EE do you want disabled?
2. What other mods do you want disabled?
3. Any other additional plugins suggested?
4. Whitelisted? Or other suggestions?
4.5: Should I whitelist anyone that has been whitelisted for SDVSS, or just people that are active and established (Not that much, just not newlyjoins)?
5. Other suggestions?

1. IMO i would disable EE altogether. Its too OP. you turn materials that are easily obtained into scares materials. I know there's more to it than that, but in essence, that is what you are doing.

2. From the Tekkit bundle i think everything else is good. although forestry will be removed in the next stable update of tekkit, so if you were to remove it now, there wouldnt be any issues later on.

3. Maybe an anti griefing plugin?

4. Def. Whitelisted.

4.5 i think mostly just people who are active. maybe ask the newer players for a mini application?

5. none i can think of.

1. I would say to not disable much or even any of EE, even though it is a little OP'ed. (We can choose not to use it)
2. I would not suggest any other mods disabled either.
3. No additional plugins.
4. Yes, only people that are trusted on the server and ask on this forum.
5. Make it as vanilla Tekkit as possible.

Those are my thoughts, though it is your server. I would think if we all know and trust each other then there should be no need for anything other than vanilla Tekkit.

PS: I hope I don't sound to presumptuous tongue

Edit: At least don't remove the Swiftwolf's Rending Gale and Dark Matter etc.
