I also read as many posts on the forums as well and I am interested in Tekkit. Its just way too much for me to take in at once. I need someone that is the complete opposite of me in vanilla, patient. big_smile To teach me how to work this game. If someone I know is willing to show me around the basic stuff so I can figure out the more advanced stuff myself I might play on the Tekkit server.

That is what I am planning to do with the computercraft monitors.
Essentially, screens of text that explain the basics of tekkit, NEI, world generation (like nether ores, rubber trees, oil), and maybe even basics of the mods.
That requires me to get computercraft working though. Task for this week/weekend.

I'm having the most trouble getting the controls to how I want them. Sour told me what buttons to press, but they didn't do anything. I change my configuration to suit my preferences.

Schem, watch Duncan's aka Yogscastlalna's tutorial. It is quite good for beginning. And of the Yogscast association is too much for you, I can help you a bit. I am a pretty patient person if I want to teach someone tongue.

My main issue of LP tutorials of this stuff is that it isn't comprehensive. They only show one possible playstyle that they liked. For me at least, reading the wikis for an overview of what stuff is helped a lot.

Helpful question, schem: What are you most interested in? Automated mining? Automated farming? Magic? Matter conversion? More efficient machines (Such as faster furnaces)? Programming? Exploring? Traveling?

Hmm... I should add Industrialcraft's furnaces and macerators to the tutorial. Macerators turn ores into 2 dust, which then can be cooked into metals. Double yield.

Automated mining and automated farming seems like a good place to start. Magic and Matter conversion sound interesting, but un-minecrafty. I'd rather look into that later. Programming? How to program? Never done program before? :o

Youtube videos are stupid.
I saw your super awesome melon farm btw. tongue

Edit: I want to learn most about solar panels big_smile and that energy related stuff and how I can make it. (Then onto how I can use it)

Hmmm, looks like something happened to Schem and Sour. Either of you have any light to shed, so I can see if I can fix it?

Ok, running into major computercraft issues. Directory is [1]Computercraft, but game is looking for Computercraft. If I rename it, the world gets corrupted and the server dies. Heh. Will research later.

All those power-related machines are part of Industrialcraft (IC). I learned everything from http://wiki.industrial-craft.net/index. … =Main_Page

I would suggest learning about just Industrialcraft and Buildcraft, given your responses. IC is energy and machines, while BC is pipes and material transport.
IC even has quantum armor (Take no damage, but requires charging), teleporters (tons of energy cost), and jetpacks.
And yeah, I am supporting EE less and less.

There's a duplication glitch with ee. Grab a stack of something, click one in the trans. Table, then shift click with the stack into your inv., it will dupe the item. You could even fill the table with the item, shift click it back in your inv. And it will dupe all of them. I believe it will be patched in the next update, but for now, very exploitable

Fixed computercraft. I needed to reboot it after renaming the directory. Derp.
Also, dowloaded a usermade computercraft tutorial. Found by typing "tutorial" into the terminal.

Crafting Table 2, Transmutation tablet, what?
Can you use newlines in your post so that it is easier to understand what you are talking about? Numbered steps please?
I know there is an exploit with the "Crafting table 2", from the official website.

Also, where are you getting your information about future updates? Just curious.

Yeah crafting table 2. I'm fairly sure you can blacklist specific items so you wouldn't necessarily have to remove ee, just blacklist items

Client ran out of memory a few times and crashed for me. The third time I came back on client froze on "Logging in" so I just restarted my computer and went back to hw lol. Might go on again at night.

EDIT: accidentally multiquoted like 5 extra times

I have been noticing occasional issues. That one was a corrupted buildcraft pipe that had no metadata, so the server complained constantly.

Going to make a new thread for this server soon. SDM, perhaps you can do the favor of making a subforums for this? It would also help unclog the forums for the vanilla server.

My current thoughts on EE:
Disable everything broken and exploitable
Disable high level matter generators (Perhaps keep the cheaper ones? Don't people filling their houses with diamond generators)
Disable most of the power items, except for harmless ones like the harvest band.
Leave the rest. I enjoy bags, chests, and covalence dust.

EE question: Keep transmutation? That is the biggest game changer of EE, being able to make something profitable and useful out of your stacks and stacks of cobble. I am currently leaning towards keeping it.

I agree with keeping it. Its part of what makes tekkit tekkit. Plus with how much stuff you need to make everything it simplifies the game a bit

Actually, EE is a new addition to tekkit. Thats why so many complain IMBA. Because it is such a gamechanger.
I agree. It mostly speeds it up. If people abuse it, I can just punish them individually.

Definately getting rid of most of the power items. Even the water amulet, which can act as an infinite water bucket when crafting, lets you fire at the sky to make it start raining. Similarly, the fire one lets you chuck lava at people and remove rain.
And the watch of flowing time lets you change the speed of the sun. Yeah, that sounds abusable.
It would be nice to disable the global functions of items, while letting them keep the more local features (Such as watch speeding up nearby machines.)

TL;DR Keeping the basics of EE, but getting rid of the severly IMBA features. EE wasn't designed for SMP.
