Today I was on with a few others, and it started raining. Soon, lightning started, then became one unending stroke of lightning. My sounds were going crazy, everything was on fire, but the fire didnt do anything. Does anyone know why the heck this happened? Also, a ton of my villagers were killed by the glitched lightning, which makes me very sad. Also my mooshrooms. Tons of houses in spawn were on fire, and lots of people's farms were ruined. It really sucked. I dont know what happened. is this a glitch in 1.3? because it sure seemed like it.

i was there to witness it, lightning was striking everywhere, but the fire didn't do anything, it burned a couple of my tree thou. and you couldn't put it out. anyways it stopped when the rain stopped but is that a glitch or is a mod trying to piss us off

The ever-lasting fire thing is just a visual glitch. You can't get rid of it (Unless you remove the block it is "burning") , but it doesn't do anything to anything around it. Now the frequency of lightning has gone WAY up.

They also probably changed the mechanics to gear it towards different levels up storms. Which might be why this storm in particular was extra-nasty.

It doesnt seem like levels of storm, it is always the crazy never ending lightning stream. And the glitch fire does spread, just only during the storm. (I did tests on a creative world.) Also, charged creepers are glitched, and can climb like spiders sometimes.

I saw this happen on the most recent UHC.
Constant lightning strikes everywhere.
The fires themselves are a known 1.3 clientside visual glitch. Think opposite of invisible nether fires.

Apparently it is a known bukkit bug. Thats about all I know.

Sorry for your villagers bro. (And reason #5 to be careful building out of wood)

I witnessed the same thing while playing on a MineZ server. When the storm hit, you ran inside or got hit by lightning. The screen was constantly flashing from the lightning strikes and I even died once.

As for the climbing creepers glitch, I know they can climb ladders, but not up walls without using ladders.
