What if, provided the community is okay with it, we allow users served with a temporary ban to have their ban commuted in exchange for user suggested / organized community service projects?
We could have them do things like build roads, clear forests, move building, destroy walls, terraform, fill creeper holes, et cetera.

Lol i like this idea, people who really want to get back online can be used as slave labour to serve their sentence.

This is a good way for people to earn their way back by doing grunt work. Also helps rebuild trust if they do good work.

Stankie finally has a chance to get on the server again xD. Lets have him mine all the iron for the nether tracks and lay them down

We might also hold votes to commute sentences.

lets make an in game jail, you must be logged in and not afk for X amount of hours before your temp ban is over :p

I think that jail/ community services should be for smaller offenses, big time griefing should always result in permaban, no parol, excpet if the person is truly changed.

There was one mod a server i saw make where you had to be online for 24 hours but you could not afk or interact with jail room. There is probably a plugin.

I like the idea of community service or jail for small offenses or first time offenses. Definitely permanent bans for large offenses or repeat offenses.

Large grief, forum malevolence.
