Website

http://reviewstash.com/imgupload/thumbs/5_cooler_master_550w_title.jpgCooler Master is well known for manufacturing quality accessories for PCs. Some of the more popular items they make are their power supplies, cases, and fan controllers. Today however we will be taking a close look at the Cooler Master  RS-550-ACLY power supply.

The powersupply includes many cables, mostly compliance with ATX, and EPS standards. The cables are long perfect for those large long cases but only the 24pin power cable has a sleeving.

Design

The unit itself includes a 120mm silent blue LED fan the outer portion of the power supply is a semi gloss black color. Includes an on/off switch perfect for working on the PC.
Includes:
•One (1) 24pin Main Power
•One (1) 4pin ATX +12V
•One (1) 8pin EPS +12V
•One (1) 6pin Workstation
•One (1) 6pin PCI Express
•Three (3) SATA
•Six (6) 4pin Peripheral
•One (1) 4pin Floppy
•One (1) Display Interface Connector

Test

The test was taken in four different types of levels. First level being low, second being typical, third heavy and fourth maximum. Just a note, all readings are not the same for each computer. Different computers uses different amounts of power causing a slightly different reading.

Load    PF    3.3V    5V    12V1    12V2    Efficient    Case
96W    .97    3.34    5.10    12.11    12.10    82%    31 C
240W   .99    3.29    5.02    12.04    11.96    83%    36 C
397W   .99    3.20    4.93    11.91    11.88    80%    41 C
461W   .99    3.21    4.96    11.80    11.76    79%    43 C

Overall this is a highly recommended powersupply, however Cooler Master should consider better cable management, and longer lasting capacitators.
