Goingsolo needs your halp!

the coordinates in real world of our portals?

|
|
yes in the real world please
|

okay. Quarry town has two main portals.
One is at x=1045 y=89 z=-1038
and another at x=1085 y=87 z=-972
These^ two real-world portals were linked to a single nether portal...
idk if you can recreate that or not.

I still think this is a good thing. Think of all the new glow stone i can get to now:lol:

My nether rail was somewhat specialized. Portal was at about 512,512 in the nether, right underneath the bedrock roof. Rail ran diagonally for about 500 blocks each axis, 7 wide, towards the origin. Probably be easiest if I had a quick creative run through that, because of my specialized rail design (pigman proof two lane diagonal rail). Which was also quite a lot of iron.
And then there is the blaze farm... I think I will abandon that.

If you need temporary creative, I can definitely grant it.

Another n00b question. When i build a portal in real, does the portal automatically get created in the nether. (so atm, the nether is blank with a bunch of random portals all over) or does the nether portals get created as you enter the real portal (so atm the nether is completely blank, no structures or portals)

The 'Nether Rebuild Team 2012' is on the job. We really could use your co-ord's, guys.

Portal physics 101! (Useful reference)
When you enter a portal in the overworld:
Take your coordinates. Divide X and Z by 8.
The game goes to that spot in the nether. Looks for a nearby portal 128 blocks in each direction, (not quite sure what it does with the new world height... I heard it is very buggy.)
If there is one nearby, it sends you to the closest one.
If there are no portals near that location, it creates a new portal closest to that location.
When you enter a portal in the nether:
Take your coordinates. Multiply X and Z by 8.

This allows for multiple overworld portals that are very distant to all lead to the same nether portal, while multiple nether portals have to be very close to link up to the same overworld portal.
New portals are created as needed. You can use multiple portals as an obsidian farm.
Method 1. You and a friend. You make a portal in the overworld, you go in. Your friend stays behind. You break the portal you came through in the nether. Your friend goes through his portal to recreate your portal, then goes back. You mine your portal again. Etc.
Method 2. Same Idea, except you have two pairs of portals so you can exit the nether after breaking your portal.
Both of these can have problems with running into other people's portals.
