Of course that's what you did, spawn is the center, things branch off. That's how it should be. What my view of a central hub is: Everywhere that wants a rail gets one that goes back to the spawn point. I would much rather have this. Sure it's a lot of rail, but it makes things less confusing for new ppl and helping ppl get around.

Not a bad idea, so idk. Maybe we should redo the hub?

YAY!!! Finally someone likes what i did!!!
I said I liked the Idea. I haven't seen the implementation.
I think it might be easier to have the station centered at 0,0 actually. Why?
Poke a hole in the bedrock ceiling. Anyone stuck on top can just easily walk to 0,0. Makes it easier to plan the direction for future rails.
I am partially basing my idea off of the mindcrack station (Although we can include multiple floors).
Rail to spawn from a station has the added bonus of sub-stations. Spawn can be a sub-station, with rails leading to all of the closer locations.
I can even build destination selectors if people are willing to run a lot of wire, using pulse length encoder/decoders. Just a fun idea.

destination selector = brain... just jump on the right rail and go. No need to complicate it any further.
I want the old nether back :\ seriously

I don't mean to suggest that there's anything that can or should be done about this, but it's unfortunate that people like solo, kaya, and myself (who are in creative mode and therefore could get a lot done) are unable to get on the server because it's full.

The server seems to be handling the stress of 13 people rather well. Even with most of them in the supposedly very laggy server. I think you can try raising the cap to 20 or so temporarily.
Also, if it hasn't been done already, please no one do anything whatsoever on top of the bedrock roof. I am thinking that the moment someone builds there, it updates the lighting instructions and starts the major lag. Then again, if anyone does get stuck there, only TP can get you out safely without updating anything. Breaking the bedrock needs some counting to make sure no light leaks through the hole into the area above.
(Reasoning: Anvil is split into 16x16x16 lighting mini-chunks. Building on top tells the game that it also needs to update all of those on top of the world too. Just a guess.) Lag hasn't been all that bad. If the lag ends up being much less without this, yay. If it returns to the once every 2 minutes a 15 second 1fps period, then my hypothesis is wrong.
I think destination selector can be easily replaced by sub-stations. Like if a town (like spawn) has a whole bunch of nearby portals, you can build small stations leading to those, rather than building rails to every single portal.
And I guess good point. Don't want people messing around with the timings and screwing up the selectors. (Just bad experience with new players breaking complicated creations).

The actual selector is not that hard, but it is mostly the actual impementation. Instead, we could do the selector and have redstone torches light up the track that should be taken.

Or just signs.
The idea of a selector is that it automatically has one spot with a cart. Get in cart, press button, go to destination, cart refilled. Only one departure bay, rather than one for each.
But really, just stick with signs.

Why did i get un creatived?
Was it because of the derping and nether fun?
It was bout that!
And if that is the case, then you should also un creative
Schematix.
Cus we both went into a SPAWNING MASSACRE (and he even did more damage that
i did, and i also fixed what i broke in the rail too)...
it was awesome till it ended...

Gummy, don't take advantage of a creative mode status, you are there for a reason, nether rebuilding,

I think waiting for a tp is not a bad idea, just post it on forums

:>
Sorry, is just... SCHEMATIX MADE ME DO IT!
|

All theses people with creative mode, makes me sad, creates so many advantages.
|

hopefully everyone with creative mode used it to solely re-build the nether.... there shouldn't be any advantage to it. But there were some people using it wrongly... but they got it taken off I'm sure. Don't feel bad.

Hey Kaya, Solo told me that you were upset about having to stop 4 times and pick up your minecart, then lay it down again just to get to the lab. Raphal told me that storage cart rails are probably useless because when they leave chunk generation areas they stop moving. Sooooo.... I'm converting the storage cart rail (Hasn't been built yet) to an express travel to the lab! Yay!
