I don't know if this should be here or under the griefing thread but the nether rails could use some TLC. Holes in the walls, stone brick or iron bars patched with cobble, missing redstone lamps, missing glass, etc... It could definitely use some work.
I took some screenshots of examples of what I'm talking about (these are almost all in the same short piece of rail):

It seems a trip to the nether shall require a pocket of smooth stone, as everyone carries cobble?

On a similar note, who decided to place the minecart chests right in the middle of the walkway? I did something similar but put them in the ground so you don't have to jump over them.

When stone brick is broken you get stone brick back. It shouldn't be hard to replace it. Same with iron bars as far as I know. The nether rail is not a place to mine stone brick for personal projects and replace it with cobble to fill the hole.
EDIT: And since I'm ranting: How'd I get a -1 reputation? lol

Oh yeah, that's right... then there really is no reason for that behavior. And the names I saw in the screen shot suprised me
And idk, does it tell you who clicked your buttons?

Ya guys... that's pretty bad. what are you doing going around breaking stuff anyway? chime? derp...
Smith are you questioning the construction around some of the nether rails? me too
oh ya i +rep'd you for this topic

Considering the purpose of the Nether is to unify transportation for all players on the server, griefing the nether is beyond unacceptable.
I hope that some of the logged players have valid explanations for their behavior.

Suggestion: Add doors periodically along the nether. I found it surprisingly hard to exit the spawn hub. I assume some of these are people trying to exit it, and replacing it with the wrong block (incompetence or died).
Suggestion: Periodic repair chests (Maybe the cart chests?) with stone brick, glass, iron bars, and rails. Might be prone to theft, so should be kept lightly stocked.
Suggestion: Don't be a douche and break things that aren't yours. If you have a valid reason to, at least patch it up with the same materials that you just picked up.
Suggestion: Don't steal from or vandalize a public rail line. People will notice. It is public. That is the point.

I fixed 3.5 stacks of glass here... but didn't have enough to finish. Thing that makes me mad about this was he knew he was breaking it... I told him he was, as he was trying to get off his cart. I thought he'd at least come back to repair it. I'll take 3.5 stacks of glass from you if you don't get banned...

I think slabs would be a much better choice rather than glass (Although it is built already). Or iron bars.
Namely, any transparent block that can be picked up and replaced, to solve issues like this. Maybe just do the commonly traveled rails first.

Something more durable than glass, someone with an enchanted tool may just accidentally click and destroy a block. I think schematix said something about these people finding the pigmen blockers dumb and disliking them which is why they are broken. As for the cobble can't you logblock check them and find out? Post their names here. Also, there was a missing rail on the way to Kaya's hub place thing which was caused by a ghast. I had to go right after that so I didn't have time to repair it (I would of had to gone all the way back to SR and back, didn't have enough iron to make rails)...sorry.
EDIT: Didn't see the photos within preview mode while typing for some reason....lol.
